Illness and Absences

Excused Absences
Up to 5 absences may be excused per semester if it meets any of the following criteria:

  • Family emergency
  • Approved excuse from supervisor and the Scheduling Co-Director

Unexcused Absences
After multiple no shows, you may be dismissed from the program!

  • No show
  • Incomplete sub request and no show - if you cannot find a sub, talk to the supervisor!

Sub Requests

In extraordinary circumstances, communicate directly with the supervisor about scheduling problems. Otherwise, sub requests are filled on a first-come, first-served basis:

  1. Find someone to take your shift! Post a message on the #subrequests channel on Slack. Specify the day and time of the tour! Use the format below to post subrequests

date: Put the date of the tour
time: Put the time of the tour
                               type: Academic or Student Life
reason: Explain your reason for giving up tour, remember that these are for reasons such as appointments, meetings, interviews, etc.

If a request is denied or you are unable to find a sub, then you are expected to be in attendance for the scheduled tour. If you are a no-show, it will result in a strike.

Conduct

As a Purdue Ambassador, you are a direct representative of the University. In many cases, you will make the first and most important impression on our visitors. Accordingly, you should always demonstrate a friendly, welcoming attitude and professional conduct. If you have any questions, contact the supervisor to set up a meeting.

Three Strike Policy

In addition to maintaining good academic standing, you must adhere to the rules and expectations set forth for Admissions Ambassadors in order to maintain the position. You will incur a strike for any of the following:

  • Dress code violations
