About Exploratory Studies
Mission, Vision, and Values:
- “Exploratory Studies is a program that helps students discover the major that best reflects their interests and ambitions. Students are given the space and time to explore balanced with professional guidance intended to encourage students' proactive career research and reflection.”
- Each student is assigned an academic advisor specializing in exploratory
- Advisor to student ratio 1:150
- Unique course schedule tailored to interests and ambitions
- Goal is to balance GenEds and major courses
- Take EDPS 10500 course in the fall
- Academic and Career Planning
- Full semester, 3 credits
- Allows students to try different majors before committing
- Can be in EXPL for up to 4 semesters (freshman and sophomore year)

- Focuses on process of major and career exploration
- Hybrid course: 2 hr/week spent in class, 1 hr/week out of class doing other activities
