FAQ’S

Ambassadors get asked almost anything! Answer honestly and if you don’t know, that’s fine, say you don’t know but would be happy to find out. You can ask any member of the admissions team – we’re here to help! Here’s a few of the most common questions ambassadors are asked.

Q. Do you validate parking for my visit today?

A. No, a full day at a University parking garage costs about $10.

Q. Can I have lunch in a dining court today?

A. Yes! Dining courts cost about $12 per person and you can find out what’s on the menu and opening hours here.

Q. Can I have a car on campus?

Maybe. If you qualify for approval (medical appointments, off campus employment, military duty, etc.) you can purchase a parking pass. The residence hall sometimes has a ‘Freshman Parking Lottery.’ However, having a car is not necessary. The CityBus is great to get around campus and it’s totally free.

Q. Can I bring my bike?

A. Yes, It’s a great way to get around campus. There’s also a campus bike sharing program (24 hour pass/yearly membership fee), Zagster, you can sign up for.

Q. How do I get football/basketball tickets? How much do they cost?

A. The box office for sporting events is located at Mackey Arena where you can buy season or individual tickets. Students can purchase the Boarding Pass, which provides season tickets for home football for $99 and gives students
the option to get season tickets for other sports as well for an additional fee. Tickets can be purchased online through the Purdue Athletics website.

Q. How do I get into the Honors College?

A. Students need to indicate their interest on the application and answer the two additional questions regarding honors. The deadline for consideration is November 1.

Q. Can students change their major?

A. Yes. If you’re admitted but class hasn’t started, you request a change through the Office of Admissions. If you want to change as an enrolled Purdue student, you work with our academic advisor to “CODO” (Change of Degree Objective).

Q. Where do I buy books?

A. Purdue students can save up to 30% with Amazon@Purdue, with free one-day pickup for Amazon student members. You can also purchase books at campus bookstores or rent from online services.

Q. Do I need to bring a computer?

A. You do not have to bring a computer to campus and Purdue does not require students to own computers, but most students do (Mac or PC). All residence units have printer kiosks utilizing laser printers and computer labs can be found throughout campus. About 3,000 additional computers are available in public computer labs located throughout campus.
